“Today We Have The Power” @ NYU – Friday @ 6pm

Today We Have The Power, a documentary I recently scored about the 1999 WTO protests in Seattle, is having a sneak preview screening this Friday at 6pm in NYU Bobst Library’s Avery Fisher Center. The screening is free and will involve a talk back with the director afterwards. The film officially premieres in Seattle early next month.

The program will explore work by current composers in the NYU Musical Theatre writing program, as well as work by some of NYU’s famous alumni.
Recent Follies star Danny Burstein will host the evening, which will feature the talents of Rebecca Luker (Mary Poppins, Nine, Music Man, Sound of Music), Rory O’Malley (Book of Mormon, Spelling Bee), Elizabeth A. Davis (Once, The 39 Steps), Drew Gehling (On a Clear Day…, The Minister’s Wife, Jersey Boys), Kate Shindle (Wonderland, Legally Blonde, Cabaret), Sally Wilfert (Make Me A Song, Spelling Bee, Assassins) and Michael Winther (Mamma Mia!, Songs from an Unmade Bed).
The artists will interpret songs by Gaby Alter, Will Aronson, Ben Bonnema, Ben Cohn & Sean McDaniel, Joey Contreras, Julianne Wick Davis, Jeremy Desmon, Vadim Feichtner, Caleb Hoyer, Jenny Giering, Dylan Glatthorn, Kait Kerrigan, Brian Lowdermilk, Brendan Milburn & Valerie Vigoda, Chris Miller, Peter Mills, Matt Sklar, Christopher Staskel, Georgia Stitt, Nathan Tysen and Sam Willmott.
The singers will be accompanied by the Director of Collaborative Piano at NYU, Grant Wenaus, with Stephen Benson on guitar, Yuiko Kamakari on violin, Ed Matthew on clarinet and Clay Ruede on cello.

Elizabeth A. Davis to sing “My Life With You” on April 16th

Elizabeth A. Davis of the Broadway musical Once will be performing “My Life With You,” music and lyrics by Dylan Glatthorn, on Monday, April 16th at 8pm at Steinhardt’s Frederick Loewe Theatre. The concert, “A Celebration of Songs,” is part of the New Voices Collective concert series under the artistic direction of Joel Fram.

Quintet of the Americas’ “The Heavens – The Cosmos” Concert on March 31@ Flushing Library

Quintet of the Americas woodwind ensemble will present The Heavens – The Cosmos, a concert on Saturday, March 31 – 2:00 PM at Flushing Library, 41-17 Main Street in Flushing, Queens (New York, New York).
The program will include Queens composers Xinyan Li’s Mo Suo’s Burial Ceremony and Dylan Glatthorn’s The Stuff of Comets commissioned by Quintet of the Americas, Chicagoan Yao Chen’s Sfumato, a wind quintet arrangement of Jupiter from The Planets by Gustav Holst and tangos and dances from Colombia, Mexico and Argentina.

Quintet of the Americas Premiere @ Symphony Space – Sat. Feb. 4th

The Quintet of the Americas will be premiering my new wind quintet “The Stuff of Comets” this Saturday, February 4th at Symphony Space.
It is part of the Music of Now Marathon with my work being performed during the 8:30-9:30 time slot. I will also be (briefly) interviewed by WQXR host Terrance McKnight prior to performance.
